Blatant Self-Promotion Is the New Black!

Hey, anybody looking to score some deals on bags, some of which have been seen in the, uh, "pages" of Fashion Binge in the past? I'm unloading some of my lesser-used bags on eBay in order to cut down on closet clutter (say that five times fast). I love all of these bags (even though some of them remain unused) but their time has come. Check 'em out, and bid with confidence, ladies!

Bulgari bag. This is THE bag. I love it to death, but I always thought it was too good to actually use. And I was afraid of getting it dirty. Anyone know what this might possibly be worth? I have no idea. It's gorgeous, though, no?

African-print hobo bag

Graffiti-print circle bag

Basket-weave bucket bag

Dark red messenger bag

Mao Tse-Tung messenger bag

Orange faux-leather bag

Coral faux-leather bag (I like to call it the "boob bag")

Vintage chain mail (ish) envelope clutch

Happy bidding!

Think Pink

Okay. Valentine's stuff, Part II, y'all.

($17.99, Qupid, CutesyShoes.com)
Totes trashy equals totes fun!

($15, Longoriagirls.etsy.com)
Are crows the new owls?

(Apprx $74 USD, Jill Green, Rockett St. George)
Okay, I can't really tell if this is even red. It strikes me as more of a red-orange, if not auburn, but whatever. It's my blog, and this is a cool clutch.

($12, FredFlare.com)
A fun new twist on the BFF classic.

($36, FredFlare.com)
I kinda think I might buy this.

($129.60, Sweetees, QueenBeeGirls.com)
I love this dress. Perfect style, perfect color. Hooray!

($28, Pony Attack, MyMy.us)
Man oh man. First of all, I love fun names AND I love ponies, so this top had me at "Pony." AND "Brand New Key" is one of my fave songs. So, as much as I've been trying to (and basically succeeding) get out of the cutesy t-shirt habit, I discovered this insanely adorable top, and it sent me on a serious backslide. Oh well. It should be arriving at the doorstep of my apartment ANY day now. Yay!

All I Can See Is Red, Red, Red

Alrighty. I'm late with this Valentine's post, natch. So here goes a very speedy digest version, aka PART 1.

($115, Talla Alexis, LuvCharlie.com)
Perfect spring top and totes layerable for the freezingness of now.

($68, Splendid Thread Social for Glamour, Shopbop.com)
This top has a fun Peter Max feel, and it goes to a good cause (not sure what, but I'm sure it's good!), and it seems to be a perfect style for those afflicted with larger chests since it minimizes at the top. Or maybe I'm completely wrong.

($16, ShopSueyBoutique.com)
Super cute and not overdone. I like the beige too. I think we'll see lots this spring.

($144, Fighting Eel, ActiveEndeavors)
Gorgeous and versatile.

($24, Life Stride, SveteCouture.com)
Cute! Vintage! Sorta Factory Girl, minus the obnoxiousness of Sienna!

($6, VintageAmore.com)
Um, hi. That's $6.

(Apprx $35 USD, Paul Frank, MountRepublic.com)
Oh Paul Frank. U R 2 Cute 2B 4 Go-10!

Best for last, y'all...

($140, MaisyBrownReproRetro.etsy.com)
Handmade like WOAH! WITH a detachable wrap skirt! Holla!

We Ain't. Goin' Nowhere...

It's FB for life!

I knooooooooooooooowwww. We've been less than punctual with the blogging. MK was gallivanting about in Tejas and Mejico, and I've been busy as a wee bee making jewelry, but you should know by now that when it rains it pours 'round here in 'Bingeville.

We're cooking up some hardest-of-the-hardcore posts, but for now, enjoy this ADORBSly cheesy yet presh coin purse.

($32, Cajo, Winknyc.com)

OOooh speaking of shoes...
I wanted to update you on the end result of my spring shoe-buying binge, which you MOMN (may or may not) remember from late January.

First of all, it was with crossed fingers (not literally, duhzors) that I ordered two pairs of open-toed wedges from the lamely named "Cutesy Shoes."
BUT... they did NOT disappoint. True to their name, they are INDEED cute!

See?
And the $15 price point is unbeatable. I will warn you, however, I had to return these for a half size smaller.

Next... the brown Dr. Scholls from Overstock are way cuter in real life. They're a little steep, which is surprising for Dr. Scholl's, but whateves.

Highly recommended (though ultimately not for spring.)

Oh, and here's a MAJE bummer: the very vintage brown wedges I bought on ebay suffered a major misstep (har).

I was felt SOOO swingy and excited when I stepped off the subway wearing these fun shoes. Very Mary Tyler Moore, you know? I wanted to wear a hat and toss it up in the air. That feeling stayed with me ALL day UNTIL... later in the afternoon... the soles came off BOTH fucking shoes! WTF?? They were never worn, so I guess the mishap was a function of their age and my overzealous, excited wearing of them. I'll get them fixed, but still. I call bullshit.

Lastly, these black shoes from Wink NYC:

These puppies ended up being more casual IRL than I anticipated. Oh well. They'll do nicely to upgrade an outfit in lieu of Chucks, nomesayin'??

And for REALSIES lastly:
Wink NYC is having a warehouse sale.

Gitrdone!

Carolina Herrera: From Munch to La Mode

New York - Though Carolina Herrera remains America's pre-eminently classy designer, she's inspiration for her latest collection was Edvard Munch's painting of a bohemian anarchist. Yet the contradiction, far from confusing designer led to one of the finest collections we've seen so far in the New York season.
Munch's painting of the radical Hans Jæger, whose neighborhood in Oslo, Christiania, was a funky and alternative quarter, may have been a bizarre source of stimulation but the net result was couture quality coolness. Ideal clothes for the very opposite sort of people the super-well-heeled women from the Upper East Side who sat front row.
Remarkably sleek tunic dresses finished with glass bauble trim reminiscent of the modernist functionality of Art Deco or brilliantly wrought robes with erratic geometric appliqué patterns echoed Munch's imagery and obsession with Jaeger.
Yet Herrera's collection for fall 2007 oozed haute sophistication, from the remarkable jacquard coats to the stockings finished with jade.
Munch's friendship with the freaky bohemians led by Jæger deeply marked his life and was source of almost permanent inner conflict. Ironically, designer's connection to Munch's art made for remarkably balanced fashion, clothes that flattered, had poise and looked great. Uncanny, surprising and unexpected, but true.

Underwear. Not only fashion but healthy!

There’s nothing like good underwear, is there? Comfortable, nice-fitting undergarments can make the whole day go better. The problem is that what’s comfortable isn’t always the most attractive choice for feeling sexy. And sometimes, what our partners want us to wear can put more than our comfort at risk. Barely-there undies can have real repercussions on our sexual health.

I always say that the rule when it comes to thongs is this: Anything with a string is for special occasions only. The same goes for shiny, inflexible fabric. While these design features work great for increasing the heat inside the bedroom, they also increase the heat that’s on your genitals! Fabric that doesn’t move or breathe creates an environment that breeds bacteria and infection. Strings or other parts that chafe can cause irritation (and transport bacteria from one part to another, know what I mean?).

However, there can be a happy medium between this and your cotton bloomers. Good underwear can be pretty, too. Just check out the Hanky Panky line of colorful, lace thongs and panties or the Lisa Masterson. The key is that the fabric moves with you and all styles have cotton crotches, with no strings attached!

Le Tigre Hearts Indie Rock

I have some breaking news, folks: Le Tigre (the clothier, not the electropop band) is trying to move beyond its preppy roots. The evidence: The homepage features a free download of a track from the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album. The main image on the men's shop is of an shaggy-haired hipster type with beard scruff ironically holding a tiny sandwich and ringing a bell for the butler (apparently his teacup needs refilling); his female counterpart is a dead ringer for a young Kim Gordon. The male model in a promo shot sports a forearm tattoo; one of the shirts is actually called the "Indie Plaid Shirt." Tapes 'n' Tapes played a launch party of some sort.

What's going on here, besides pure funnin'? I asked Ali from Le Tigre, and she explained that the Le Tigre folks are just very indie-centric and see tie-ins with indie bands as a good marketing tool. With the mainstreaming of indie music, I'd say they've got some smarties on their team. Obviously I'm a target market, being a dyed-in-the-wool indie fan (and also a fan of bright colors and prints), but this sort of thing warms my heart. She also told me that in addition to the aforementioned bands, the following groups also wear Le Tigre: The Shins, the Thermals, Cold War Kids, Takka Takka, and many other well-scrubbed Pitchfork faves.

So what are the cool kids wearing? Who knows...probably polos mostly. But this is what I'd wear if Le Tigre were outfitting me:

I'd start out with one of their cute hoodies. It seems like you could get something as cute as this in Forever 21 that wasn't $78, but the polka dots, especially, are just so cute. Hearts a solid runner-up.

This Sweetheart halter dress, $88, is perfect for a summer day. Provided you have a good bra, I suppose. Or lesser boobies.

Now, Le Tigre is known for its polos. Classic, some say. Personally, when I hear "classic," I think "boring." Not so much a fan of the classic. But happily, this is hardly classic. It might be the cutest polo I've ever seen. Polkadot polo in cafe, $52.

This stripey sweater may not look like much, but I've seen it in person, and it's supercute. Paired with a print blouse, knee skirt, and boots, you'd be just effortlessly stylish. $78.

Rugby Crew Dress, $48.

For the fellas, I recommend the hexagonal track jacket, $84. In red and brown. No question.

And this fresh update on the Earth Stripe argyle sweater, on sale for $39.59.

Finally, Le Tigre will be participating in a Mardi Gras party at awesome Brooklyn rock club/bocce court/library bar Union Hall on February 20, where they'll be selling special limited edition polos. Proceeds will benefit musicians of New Orleans and Habitat for Humanity. There will be DJs, bands, comedians, and a burlesque performance by the world-famous Pontani Sisters. I'm very interested to see what these limited-edition polos look like, and will post images once I get them, so check back.

Toodles, my little tigers!
