I Am Not a Trend Whore

Well, sometimes I am. But not today! Today, the Anya Hindmarch bags are on sale at Whole Foods. And today, I bought six reusable Baggu nylon grocery bags...

...three of which I can distribute to my boyfriend, and three of which I can carry around myself in their little pouches, should the urge to food-shop strike, as it so often does. You could even use them for clothes shopping, instead of accepting a big ol' shopping bag complete with tissue paper and whatnot. And now I feel good about my pro-environment decision. Also, the bags are way cute and come in lots of different colors! And you don't have to have the same trendy bag everyone else is carrying.

No, thank YOU, Baggu!

The Simpsons Go To Paris

Simpsons were not just lines and yellow. Their movie will be released and so their fashion line as well.

The August issue of Harper's Bazaar comes with something so funny, so seemingly bizarre, and so unbelievably cool. Julius Preite illustrated The Simpsons at various fall Fashion Week shows while Linda Evangelista created a cartoon to accompany them.

Pocket Squares - more than just hankies

First things first, yes I am calling them pocket squares...this is an Americanism but this isn't because I love all things stars and stripes, this is because they mean more than your average old hanky. On many occasions a look that involves a jacket or even a shirt can be greatly enhanced by a pocket square. When I talk about pocket squares it isn't in the strict sense of folded cloth, one can be as imaginative and interesting with filling a breast pocket as possible in my opinion. That said any dark jacket with shirt underneath looks so much better with a complimenting fold of material.

This accessory is associated most with evening wear and, yes, without one the evening look isn't quite right but it has far more use than just complimenting evening attire. There are amazing styling perks with a pocket squares which most men do not realise; any mediocre or worn out jacket can be instantly livened up with an inexpensive, casually folded pocket handkerchief.

On one of my frequent explorations of the sartorialist I came across this interesting quiz question. The common opinion would be that it is a bit over-the-top to put a pocket square in your overcoat but if you actually saw this on the street you would barely notice it and therefore this is a perfectly subtle sartorial detail. Style is all about details and this is where the pocket square can shine.
There is so much more than the basic fold, there are a number of ways to fold your chosen material! The grace with which Milan men manipulate the silk or linen is represent their character more than any other element in their outfit. Remember to make the accessory your own, experiment, re-invent something you have seen and try something completely new.

Now here are some images demonstrating just some of the ways you can wear this versatile accessory.

My Favorite Hat, Plus Other Libertine Stuff I Like

I can't believe forgot, in my hats post, to mention my favorite one, the one that started it all!

Libertine for Target bucket hat, $14.99. Embroidered with skulls and whales. Cute! And perfect for the beach.

So, Libertine for Target is now available. Did anyone rush on down to their local branch yesterday to check out the collection? I did not. I may have to brave the shitty Brooklyn location to acquire this hat. Or I may just wait till I'm in the Souf and raid a local (and hopefully pristine) Target. Anyway, here's what else I'll be looking for from the collection:

The tree-print tee, $14.99. Sure, I passed up a ton of this type of thing at the Renegade Craft Fair, but what can I say? It's cute.

Cornucopia-print woven top, $21.99.

Side-pocket skirt in red, $24.99.

Bat-print bermuda shorts, $26.99. These are kinda dubious, but I'm drawn to them anyway.

And...that's about it. I sorta like the duffel bag, but don't really need to purchase it. The accessories pickin's seem kind of slim. Boo. Maybe they have more in stores? Is that possible? Your reports in the comments, please.

Yellow Handbags Trend

Yellow is a bright, cheerful color, often associated with happiness and peace. Some celebrities such as Rachel Bilson, Katie Holmes and Cameron Diaz know that a yellow handbag adds an instant dose of chic to an otherwise simple outfit. Whether you opt for a small clutch like Rachel or an oversized hobo like Cameron, this trend's a hot one and much more wearable than you'd think.

The Biggest Jewelry Post In The Whole Universe

Okay. You truly have no idea how long I've been hording jewelry links. My drafts folder has become the virtual version of a jewelry box whose contents are confused, tangled yet deeply beloved.

Here goes.

For a while now, Disney (yes, THAT Disney) has been making some extremely cute jewelry as part of their "Couture" line. Usually Disney makes me absolutely cringe, what with their oversized Pooh shirts just waiting to be worn to amusement parks and stained with Hi-C, but their jewelry line, almost all of which resembles Tarina Tarantino and consists of Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and Bambi pieces, is so cute that I can find it in my blackened heart to break my snobby stance against anything pertaining to Orlando for this unusual Disney deviation.

My obsession began when I noted this on a friend's hand:
($50, Disney Couture, ETOnline.Seenon.com)
I totally flipped for its insane adorableness. (Those wee teeth! Such attention to detail with the teeth!) She'd gotten it at Lost Shoe on Ludlow. And thus began my complete obsession with almost all of the Disney Couture jewelry line.

($50, Disney Couture, TreasureKingdom.com)
Available in blue too, though it's on back order. And Karmaloop.com has the necklace version for $40.

($35, Disney Couture, Fred Flare)
This is my second fave piece. It's also available here for $29.

($40, Disney Couture, Electricladyland.com)
Also adorbs.

($12.95, Disney Couture, Treasurekingdom.com)
Cute n' cheap!

($65, Disney Couture, Regencies.com)
Ridiculously cute. Not as cute as this vintage piece...

(Poshgirlvintage.com)
... But it's sold out, so, call the Waambulance.

($23, Little Ghost Designs, Day-lab.com)
Not Disney, but very cute. I heart Lucite ($38, Disney Couture, Shopestella.com)

($75, Disney Couture, Regencies.com)
Fun too.

($13.50, Bambi Couture, Shopplasticland.com)
Fun.

($50, Disney Couture, Regencies.com)
Cute, but your $50 is much better spent on the skull ring. Plus, you could just get this...

($6, Zad, Lulusfashionlounge.com)
You know... for just $6. As I did.

Okay, now onto the non-Disney yet still kitschy stuff:
($25.50, Rebecca Berry, Shopplasticland.com)
Also cute.

($23.50, GaudyGoodies.etsy.com)
Almost everything that Netherlands-based designer Ilona makes are overflowing with cuteness!

($26, Gaudygoods.etsy.com)
See????

($170, Tarina Tarantino Alice In Wonderland Collection, JestJewels.com)
I love its freaked-out little face.

($85, Betsey Johnson, Jestjewels.com)
Loves, but I could totes make this, so really, I just wish I had the charms to make my own stuff.

($34, Tokidoki, eBay)
OMG. A little pink latte guy! With legs and horns!

($11.95, Paul Frank, Karmaloop.com)
Its name is Shaquana. Tee!

($45, Kenneth Jay Lane, Electricladyland.com)
I've been wanting this for months. Hmm. Might have to get my Paypal finger ready... Now for more food-related pieces:

($17, NOT Dior, Jewelglow.com)
They're so fake it's amazing.

($10.75, eBay)
Vintage eggplants!!! They're clip-on, but who cares when they're this rad? Speaking of vintage and rad...

($135, Rubylane.com)
Mmmm. Bakelite.

($58, LFStores.com)
Not sure if they're vintage but they look like it. Also, sucks for you if you're not a Virgo, Sag, Taurus or Aquarius.

($274, Sabrian Dehoff, Creaturesofcomfort.com)
Again, I HART Lucite!

($26, NaughtySecretaryClub.com)
Now, I personally do not need an Abe Lincoln bracelet, but I'm glad it exists for those out there who do.

Okee. There's more stuff coming, but I must get outside while there are still hours of sunlight out and celebrate the French Revolution. Viva la kitsch!
